BJP government will fall after June 1 voting, claims Abhishek Banerjee
West Bengal leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari has launched a scathing attack on Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra, alleging her involvement in attempting to sell login credentials of Parliament. Adhikari's remarks come in the backdrop of Moitra's expulsion from Lok Sabha last year over her implication in a cash-for-question case. Addressing a gathering in Nadia district of West Bengal, Adhikari remarked, "The MP from here lost her membership. She tried to sell login credentials of our Parliament."
Moitra, who previously represented the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency, was expelled from Lok Sabha following allegations of receiving cash and gifts from industrialist Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for Parliament login credentials. The accusations were brought forward by lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai and later forwarded by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, resulting in Moitra's expulsion recommendation by the ethics panel. Moitra has consistently denied any wrongdoing and has attributed the allegations to targeting for questioning the Adani Group.
